Elephants are the worlds largest land animal. They can reach up to 3 meters tall and way around 4,000 - 7,500kg. Asian elephants are slightly smaller.
Elephants can be pregnant for 22 months which is longer then any other land animal. When a baby is first born it weighs around 260 pounds and can stand up soon after it is born.
Their big ears aren't just a style icon, they serve a purpose. Their ears have blood vessels close to the surface of their skin that carries cooled air back to the main bloodstream. They cool it down by flapping their ears.
Females spend their whole lives in groups made of granmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, and daughters. The oldest female leads the whole group. Adult males live a bachelor lifestyle.
